Harry van der Merwe is a highly experienced professional specializing in business investment and lending evaluations, expert equity valuations, M&A and B-BBEE deal-making, shareholder exits and planning, shareholder dispute resolution, and strategic decisions for financially distressed businesses.
With 35 years of industry experience — including 22 years as director of Newcapital — Harry has most recently served as interim CIO/COO of CI Holdings, a Black Investment Firm. In this role, Harry managed transactions up to R1 billion and successfully turned around a financially distressed investment.
Renowned for in-depth expertise in S164 (Appraisal Rights) valuations as an expert witness, Harry also provides critical equity valuations for estate duty, divorce cases, shareholder exits, and more.
Harry compiles sell-side research reports of JSE Listed companies on behalf of Blue Gem Research, managed by Keith McLachlan, CEO of Element Investment Managers & Founder of Blue Gem Research.
